AIMS AND SCOPE

 The Journal of Intelligent Systems aims to provide research and review papers, as well as Brief Communications at an interdisciplinary level, with the field of intelligent systems providing the focal point. This field includes areas like artificial intelligence, models and computational theories of human cognition, perception and motivation; brain models, artificial neural nets and neural computing. It covers contributions from the social, human and computer sciences to the analysis and application of information technology. The field also covers critical analysis of possible systems which could display intelligence, questioning how technological systems advance our understanding of intelligent systems and addressing philosophical questions that arise. It is the aim of the journal that all papers should be written in a way that is intelligible and interesting to an interdisciplinary readership.
Three main types of paper are published:
1. Research papers: giving primary detailed publication of original research findings;
2. Reviews: contributing to the ordering or integration of existing knowledge; and
3. Research communications, essays, book reviews.  Proposals for special topic issues are also encouraged. Outlines will receive the immediate attention of the editors and decisions will be reached as quickly as possible.
