ABSTRACT

New epoxy resins were obtained from aniline/o-cresol/formaldehyde resins by reaction with epichlorohydrin in large excess. The obtained resins were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. Thermal stability of aniline/o-cresol/formaldehyde resins and of the cured products made through the curing reaction between epoxy resins and their aniline/o-cresol/formaldehyde resins was also investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TG). Thermal studies showed the formaldehyde resins and cured polymers have the same thermal behaviour.

Key Words: multifunctional epoxy resins, crosslinking reaction, thermal properties
