Effects of Injection Molding Processing Parameters on the Appearance Related Optical Properties of Polycarbonate

Abstract

 

      Effects of injection molding processing parameters on the appearance related optical properties of polycarbonate (PC) are investigated in a quantitative way. Four parameters, injection pressure, injection speed, melt temperature and mold temperature, are varied in numerous levels. For each setting, total transmittance, haze and clarity are measured. It is determined that although total transmittance is affected rather slightly, clarity and haze are influenced significantly by processing conditions.
