Manuscript Requirements

1.    Manuscripts must be written in English and be typewritten with double spacing throughout the entire test and with margins of at least 2.5 cm. An original on 8½" ´ 11" heavy duty white bond paper and two duplicate copies should be provided. A diskette will be requested on acceptance of the MS [MS WORD for Windows, or a text file].

2.    Each manuscript must have a title (first) page that includes the title, the authors’ full names, the laboratory or origin of the data, a running head, a list of 6-8 key words and the name, address and FAX number of the person to whom correspondence and proofs should be mailed.

3.    Full length review articles should be divided into sections in the following order: Synopsis, Body (with relevant sub-headings), Acknowledgements, References. Short notes should contain no sections. Number pages consecutively.

4.    Abbreviations should be defined when first used by placing in parentheses after the full term; e.g., acetylcholin-esterase (AChE).

5.    References should be cited by numbers between slashes in the text. All references must be listed alphabetically and numbered consecutively. Abbreviations of journal names should conform to the Index Medicus.

6.    Tables and Figures. Illustrations must be submitted in triplicate and reach the editors in a form suitable for repro-duction either across a single column or a whole page. All line art should be professionally drawn and lettered on smooth surface white paper or bristol board. Computer generated figures will be accepted only where they are of a quality comparable to professionally drawn illustrations. Half-tone photographs should be supplied as sharp, high-quality, black and white prints on glossy paper. Illustrations grouped to form a com-posite figure should be of similar density to prevent loss of detail when reproduced. Tables will not be retyped, and must be of printable quality. Tables and figures should be num-bered in order of their appearance in the text (e.g. Fig. 1,2; Table 1,2). Tables and figures should have their number and the authors’ names on the reverse side. Magnification for the micrographs should be indicated by scale bars and not be stating a factor. Sufficient detail should be given in the legend to make it intelligible without reference to the text. Legends should be supplied on separate pages at the end of the text. The cost of color illustrations will be charged to the author. All graphics to be printed in color should be submitted as PDF files. The charge for one page of color is $1000; second and subsequent pages will cost $800.

7.    Galley proofs. Only printers’ errors may be corrected. There are no page changes.

8.    Copyright responsibility. This is the author’s own responsibility. If any figure(s), illustration(s), table(s) or extended quotation(s) etc. are to be taken from material(s) previously published, the author(s) must secure reproduction permission from the copyright owner.

Only original papers will be accepted, and copyright of published papers will be retained by the publisher.

9.    Transfer of author copyright. Please include a signed release of copyright to Freund & Pettman with your manuscript. Include the title of the article being sub-mitted, as well as the date. Include the signatures of co-authors.

10.  Manuscript editing. All accepted manuscripts are subject to manuscript editing.

11.  Reprints. 25 reprints of each paper will be provided free-of-charge. Additional copies in multiples of a hundred may be purchased. A reprint order form will accompany the proofs. Reprints will be sent to the first-named author unless otherwise indicated.

The original manuscript and diagrams will be discarded one month after publication unless there is a written request for the material to be returned to the author.
